Today I talked to Gary L about glass for solar collector applications. I don't know much about this.... kind of flying blind. But I built some boats and they haven't fallen apart yet... maybe this will work some, and I can work out some of the kinks, and we can put some on your house someday.....

Recognize there is a problem and do what you can do. It is like climbing a mountain...you climb for a while and think you haven't made any progress because there is so much ahead. But when you look back, you have come a long way and accomplished quite a bit.

You are a good girl, and a good mom. I am very proud of you.Sailorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12921177435940480006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8939359545887787468.post-74999143104363835772008-02-16T16:13:00.000-07:002008-02-16T16:13:00.000-07:00well it sure makes it obvious that we aren't even ...well it sure makes it obvious that we aren't even close to being prepared. i think i'll go out and buy some water tonight... i don't have a clue on where to store it in my tiny apartment. but i feel the urgency to be prepared. i'll be honest- all of this scares me to death.Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02791698148215577114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8939359545887787468.post-51180487051615739982008-02-15T22:12:00.000-07:002008-02-15T22:12:00.000-07:00Remember the time we tried to live for a week on o...Remember the time we tried to live for a week on our year's supply? We got really tired of TVP. But we did it. I really don't want that panicky feeling. Whenever I read this blog, I want to hide under the coffee table, aptly named.
~aAnnieofbluegableshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17106750987640776507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8939359545887787468.post-16363943267558113672008-02-14T16:16:00.000-07:002008-02-14T16:16:00.000-07:00Thanks for the comment, and for relating your expe...Thanks for the comment, and for relating your experience. He teaches Sunday School. At the end of class, he has a "News and World Events" session. He borrowed an REM song from me entitled, "Its the End of the World as We know it." He has been told to his face that he is a false prophet for saying such things.

I think these things are coming, and the majority of folks will be woefully unprepared when it happens. When Katrina hit while we were living in MS, it was crazy (and we were 200 miles from the coast). Wal-mart was wiped clean in less than a day. people were standing in line at the pump to get gasoline for 4-6 hours, and then wait overnight when thing would get filled up again. The fast food places were booming, as they had a few days supply of food in their freezer. That lasted 2 or 3 days, and then there was no food for a day or two. ATMs didn't work. Jenny and I had some food, but we didn't have alternative heating or cooling. We didn't have a lot of water, we didn't have extra batteries. It was a terrible feeling.
Now I don't think the world will go nuclear wasteland next week (I sure hope not), but I could see an oil hiccup causing stress in all the markets. My friend at work watches what he calls the Yoplait index. The price of yogurt has gone up 15-20 percent in the past few months. flour has gone from 1.12 to 1.57 for a bag. EVERYTHING is going up due to the cost of gas going up. Anyway, that is my 2 cents. Our power went out today, and I didn't have batteries for my flashlight. I had a flashback of Katrina.

This boy is working on a few weeks supply.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11433933951827753220noreply@blogger.com
